Can dealing with perfectionism make you a better artist?

Hey there, Reader!

First of all, I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who voted in last week's newsletter poll!

I'm assessing the data and designing a new content calendar. For this reason, I don't yet know when the livestreams will begin because I still have to wrap up one more project before I embark on this new creative endeavour.

So stay tuned for more livestream details because they'll be coming soon!

That being said, I have a confession to make.

To be honest with you, the reason why it has been taking me a while to start livestreaming on YouTube is because I've been battling with perfectionism. I've been working through mental blocks and limiting beliefs such as:

Doubting if people will attend and watch the art livestreams.

Second-guessing and falling into analysis paralysis.

Worrying about setting up the tech properly.

Confronting the fear of failure.

So in today's newsletter, I'm sharing with you my current struggles with perfectionism to show you that if you're dealing with perfectionism as an artist, you're not alone.

But how do you know if you're dealing with perfectionism ? Well, you might relate to any of the following...

You're filled with self-doubt, so you procrastinate and never get around to creating art.

You obsess over the little details until you spiral into analysis paralysis.

You're too self-critical and you judge yourself constantly.

You believe that your art is never "good enough."

As you can see, overcoming perfectionism is an inside job. It takes self-honesty, self-compassion, and the commitment to change your mindset.

Fortunately, I've made steady and meaningful progress over the years as I've unlearned many of my perfectionist tendencies.

For that reason, I'm sharing with you my best strategies in a blog post titled Dealing with Perfectionism Will Make You an Insanely Successful Artist in which I teach you how to deal with perfectionism so that it doesn't control your art.

By improving your mindset, shifting your energy, and tweaking your habits, you'll benefit from:

  • Feeling stronger satisfaction for completed artwork
  • Having greater respect for the learning process
  • Embodying better self-esteem and self-worth
  • Overcoming fears associated with your ego
  • Improving your mindset and work ethic

I believe this process is worthwhile because, speaking from experience, I know going through this transformation will make you a better and more confident artist.

By the time you're done reading, you'll know how to reprogram your perfectionist habits in order to develop a stronger and healthier mindset for success with your art.

ACTION STEP: Click the purple button above and read the blog post. Then, identify 1 or 2 areas where you struggle with perfectionism in art. Apply the recommended tips or strategies to help you overcome perfectionism.

Even though you might be struggling with perfectionism, I assure you it can be managed so that it doesn't control your life.

With the right methods, dealing with perfectionism can help you become a calmer, happier, and more grounded artist, Reader.

And when you truly learn to value progress over perfection, it becomes easier to deal with perfectionism whenever you encounter it in your life.

So I hope you find this advice helpful as you continue adventuring on your artistic journey!

Talk to you again soon,

Best regards,

Miranda
