Free lesson plan: An easy way to practice watercolour better

I created a free watercolour lesson plan for you, Reader!

That way, you can save time looking for watercolour resources and spend more time painting and playing.

The first step is to warm up your hand, wrist, and arm by practicing basic brushstrokes.

To do that, I recommend you start your painting session by checking out the following warmups:

I included links to a blog post and a YouTube video, so choose the resource that best fits your learning style.

After you've spent about 10 minutes warming up (or longer if you prefer), it's time to dive into a painting.

The second step in your free lesson plan is to complete an easy watercolour painting that focuses on applying techniques and smooth washes. To do that, check out this super popular landscape tutorial:

After you've completed your first painting, you can tackle the second painting. It's just as fun and slightly more challenging.

The third step is to complete a monochrome watercolour tutorial that teaches you how to apply thin layers and use a variety of light and dark values using one colour:

By the time you finish this watercolour lesson plan, you'll have two completed watercolour paintings to add to your collection, Reader.

And you'll walk away feeling proud of all the meaningful progress you made today!

ACTION STEP: Follow the simple watercolour lesson plan that I included in this email.

  1. First, do the easy warmup exercises. Practice for about 10 minutes.
  2. Second, complete the first watercolour tutorial. It can be done in roughly 10 minutes.
  3. Third, complete the second watercolour tutorial to learn how to paint using one colour.

Talk to you again soon,

Your friend,

Miranda
